“The best way to make
your dreams come true
is to wake up.”
In a way, the above quote reminds me of an old joke about setting goals. I’m paraphrasing wildly (understatement!), but it kicks off something like this:
One of these days, I’m going to plan to get ready
to start thinking about beginning to _____.
Fill in your own blank with whatever goal you’ve been putting off, possibly forever.
I’ve got a million of ’em.
Maybe it’s a chore we really have no desire to do, such as re-grouting the bathroom floor, changing the oil in the family car, or cross-referencing our 1,362 handwritten recipe cards by meal type and main ingredient.
Could be it’s a job we’re afraid to start because we know it requires a lot more time than we’re willing to invest.
Well, we can hire an expert to handle some of the items on our list, delegate responsibility of others to family members, and most likely blissfully cross off more than a few that probably didn’t need doing anyway. (The recipes, for instance!)
But what about our personal goals?
We can’t turn our dreams over to someone else. And if we don’t make an attempt even to reach for them, for sure we’ll never achieve them.
So, none of that “going to plan to get ready” for us anymore.
Take the day to decide your number-one goal, set an alarm tonight, and wake up tomorrow morning prepared to tackle – and complete – step one to realizing your dream.
Once you’ve checked off that item on your list, stop by and leave a comment to share your success!
