What steps will you take? #timemanagement #motivation #MFRWauthor
In the past few weeks, I’ve been writing lots of guest blogs, answering interview questions, and getting to some serious revisions with a short-term deadline.
This week, things are calmer and…uh…well…
I’m working as hard as ever but don’t seem to be getting as much done.
C. Northcote Parkinson knows the reason for that. He once said:
“Work expands so as to fill the time available for its completion.”
That’s what I’ve learned this week.
Of course, now I’m aware of the problem, I can begin to tackle it. I’m sure you have a good idea what that means:
- actually looking at my to-do list
- setting a firm start time for the writing
- blocking work sessions on the calendar
- limiting my socializing online (at least until break time!)
I’m also sure there’s no correlation between C. Northcote Parkinson’s quote and the fact he was an author. 🙂
In any case, for me at least, the man knew what he was talking about. And thanks to him, I intend to make better progress.
Do his words hold true for you, too? If so, what steps will you take – today – to tackle whatever it is you need to do?
