Wednesday Wisdom: Good Fortune or Great Planning?
I’m forever collecting quotes I love, which is one of the reasons the Wednesday Wisdom column came to be—I wanted to share some of my favorite quotations with you.
Usually, it takes me a while to find the perfect match to whatever topic’s on my mind. On Saturday (when I began planning this week’s column), I opened one of my many files, scrolled down without looking, and came to a stop…on this:
“Many an opportunity is lost because
a man is out looking for four-leaf clovers.”
– Anonymous
Can you believe it? Could any quote have been more perfect for this week?
Well…maybe… Why? Because I’m a good part Irish and believe wholeheartedly in four-leaf clovers! Or, at least, that’s what I tell myself.
Some quotes can be interpreted differently depending upon who’s reading them. As with fortune cookies, sometimes figuring out the meaning is half the fun.
What this quote says to me is, we shouldn’t embark on a search for luck. We shouldn’t try to track down good fortune. Instead, we ought to focus on our goals, work steadily, and be the right person in the right place when a door opens.
Yes, the good things in life can come through a stroke of luck. But most of the time, they’re the result of our hard work and perseverance.
Your thoughts?
Have you got a favorite quote on the topic of perseverance?
All my best to you,
Barbara

I keep some of the fortune cookies I receive because of how I have interrupted them.
I have a Winston Churchill quote on my fridge 🙂
Churchill is very quotable.
Those fortune cookies really make my day sometimes. I don’t always believe them but I like to say that I do. Only when the fortune’s good, of course.
