#WednesdayWisdom – Scary sight? Or motivation? #MFRWauthor
I’ve discovered I can be a visual learner at times. When reading a novel, I don’t need much description, as pictures of the characters and places form in my mind. When someone gives me directions, I don’t need paper if I can see the route in my head.
A single line, such as the second sentence in the quote below, creates a vision for me—no pun intended!
Does it for you?
“The vision must be followed by the venture.
It is not enough to stare up the steps—we must step up the stairs.”
– Vance Havner
The most frightening thing about that quote—that vision—is that we don’t know where those steps will lead. We don’t know what waits at the top of the stairs.
On the other hand, with the right mindset, that could be just the motivation we need to get moving.
When writing a book, I might know my final destination, but I don’t know every twist the road takes, every location I’ll visit, every discovery I’ll make at the top of the stairs. This makes writing fun.
Not knowing what waits ahead can make real life fun and exciting and an adventure, too.
What is that flight of stairs for you? A scary sight? Or motivation to get moving on something you’ve wanted to accomplish?
Let us know!
All my best,
Barbara
