Wednesday Wisdom: Waiting for something?
This Monday, my latest manuscript was due. And I was not feeling up to the challenge.
My schedule had been totally thrown out the window in the past month by not one but two bouts of flu, complicated by the side effects of a messed-up sleep schedule and insomnia. Such fun – not!
Luckily, a week or two ago, I came across this:
“The person who is waiting for something to turn up
might start with their shirt sleeves.”
– Garth Henrichs
The above didn’t solve all my problems and I still needed to put in a ton of effort to finish the book – which did go in on Monday, by the way.
But the quote did make me remember that no one could come along to save me, no miracle could happen that would get me off the hook. Because no one could write this book but me.
And if I didn’t write this book, my hero and heroine wouldn’t have their happy ending.
That knowledge made me turn up my shirt sleeves and get the job done…with a few power naps along the way!
I’m betting you might also have times when you’re not feeling up to tackling a challenge or a chore. I’d love to hear how you motivate yourself to get ‘er done.
All my best,
Barbara
