I like clothes shopping as much as the next woman, as proven by the state of my bedroom closet. The living room is home to photos and keepsakes I treasure.  But my most important possessions are my books.

So, yes, I’m happy to wear an older coat or to let my jeans get ragged around the edges – which only makes them more fashionable, right?

I don’t mind cutting down on the keepsakes and knickknacks.

I would even give up a dessert or three, if that gives me extra money to spend on books.
