Wednesday Wisdom – Going slowly
Some weeks are better than others, and of course the reverse is true. No, that’s not the wisdom for the week. 🙂
This has been one of those not-better weeks for me. I’ve been fighting a cold/allergies/flu while being on not one but two deadlines. Thankfully, one of the projects is now off my desk and onto my editor’s. The other is ongoing: I’m writing my next book…and beating myself up for not making much progress.
Fortunately, I came across this in my storehouse of quotes:
Be not afraid of going slowly; be afraid only of standing still.
– Chinese Proverb
Reading that quote immediately turned my thinking around!
No matter how small the task we manage to accomplish, no matter how tiny the baby step we take, as long as we keep moving, we’re getting just that much closer to our goals.
Yes, I felt terrible this week and spent most of my time sleeping on the couch. But I did make progress on both my projects, and the quote helped me see that – considering the circumstances – those were actually solid accomplishments.
Are you just as hard on yourself when it comes to achieving your goals? If so, I hope those words of wisdom help you, too.
All my best,
Barbara
